The skin of the upper and lower eyelids
becomes more relaxed with age and the fat pads around the eyes become
more prominent making the eye area appear tired. While an eyelid lift
can give a younger appearance to the eye area, it cannot remove "crow's
feet," eliminate dark circles, or sagging eyebrows.
For the upper eyelids, the scar is hidden in the natural crease
of the lid. When lower eyelids have both extra skin and fat, an
incision is made just below the lashes on the lower eyelid. However,
if only the fat pads under the eyes are present the incision can
be hidden inside the lower eyelid, leaving no external scar.
